Caleigh Guoynes is a postdoctoral fellow at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC. She specializes in using deep learning behavioral software to better characterize mouse vocalizations and behavior. She has 15+ years of experience with rodent behavior and 10+ years of experience recording and characterizing ultrasonic vocalizations. Caleigh earned her BS in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior and BA in Psychology from University of California—Davis. After completing her undergraduate degree, Caleigh earned her MS in Biomedical Science from Western University of Health Sciences, where she worked on new technology for stem cell therapy for Parkinson’s disease. Caleigh completed her PhD in Psychology at University of Wisconsin—Madison in 2021 where she studied how oxytocin and vasopressin influenced parental care and communication in California mice. Caleigh’s current work focuses on understanding how the lack of ube3a impacts communication and the vocal-motor pathway. Her work has shown that mice with ube3a mutations have impaired vocalizations and that this readout is important for understanding communication impairments at the circuit level.
