Olivia Haouchine is a Ph.D. student in Biopsychology and a Graduate Student Researcher in the UC Davis Health Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Her research focuses on translational therapeutic development for genetic neurodevelopmental disorders, with a particular emphasis on Angelman syndrome and Dup15q syndrome models involving altered UBE3A expression. Olivia’s work bridges preclinical neuroscience, mouse genetics, behavioral phenotyping, and in vivo therapeutic testing. Her current work contributes to FDA-directed IND-enabling studies of a UBE3A-expressing lentiviral hematopoietic stem cell gene therapy approach for Angelman syndrome. In addition to her work in gene and cell therapy models, Olivia has expertise in wireless telemetric EEG recording, sleep and seizure phenotyping, and quantitative analysis of electrophysiological biomarkers in preclinical models of neurodevelopmental disorders. She is particularly interested in how translational endpoints, including EEG signatures, seizure activity, and sleep architecture including apneas, can help connect preclinical therapeutic development with outcomes that are meaningful to clinicians, researchers, and families affected by Angelman syndrome, Dup15q syndrome, and related conditions.
